Replaced my 10+ year old wand
So I was deciding between a $180 wand and this wand and I decided to try this one first. My hair has turned out really well and Im impressed. The heat setting goes from 1-30 and it's recommended not to use it on higher than a ten for almost all hair types. I have a lot of hair, and I tend to curl my hair in thick sections to get beachy waves, but my strands themselves are somewhat fine. I found that a 4 on the temperature slider was PLENTY warm and would not recommend setting it any higher. The other thing I noticed is that it heats very evenly, so you will not need to hold the hair for very long, and will want to release it quickly. If you havent used a wand before I recommend practicing your whole head with the heat off just to get used to the motions so you can easily unwrap it without getting your hair tangled up in the counter rest at the bottom of the barrel. Use heat protectant, and your hair cannot be damp at all. But anyways, this is my favorite wand I have used. It heats up so fast, and cools down fast once you turn it off. I love being anle to do curls or waves. My last wand I had for ten years (it was this same brand) and it had a tapered barrel. I find that the thicker striaght barrel on this wand makes my hair seem fuller and more voluminous. I curl a bunch, remove the wand, hold the curl until it cools in my hand, then let it relax while I do the rest of my hair. At the end, I use a wide tooth comb on my curls and then do a fine mist of hairspray.

Started popping and smoking. It burnt about 1in of my hair off !
Great little iron

I needed a curling iron to take abroad for the different wattage (my two irons wouldn't work overseas) and saw this one and it had pretty good reviews. I have long, fine hair that doesn't always hold curl very well. I was astonished at how well this iron worked. It does get hot so watch the temp. It's very lightweight and my curl lasted for a long time (with a heat protector can't styling spray). It works as well or better than my irons that cost 2-3 times this much.
Don't bother

Worthless counter "stand"

The curling wand works fine, but one cannot set it down because the "stand" does not perform.
