How To: Evenly distribute through clean, damp hair. Leave on for 3-5 minutes (maximum), then rinse. Use as needed when brassy tones are present. Pigments may stain hands. Using gloves is recommended.
First time? Test a few strands of hair prior to applying all over hair.
Preliminary Test: Using a cotton swab, apply product to a 2 by 2 centimeter cleansed area on inner side of forearm. Allow to dry. Leave unwashed and uncovered for 48 hours. If no sign of irritation or redness appears, proceed with application.

I followed the instructions in the back and left it for 6 minutes after shampooing. I have dark black hair but I could still see the tones perfectly. When I'm outside the shades are even more visible. Also, it did not left my hair dry like other products do.
It works!
I previously had a balayage done to my hair and regrwtted it immediately. About 2 minths ago i had a darker toner put in to match my natural color. However that has washed out and i didnt want to spend the money or take the time going to the salon. The did the trick!!! Within 5 minutes my ends matched my roots and it was such a quick and aimple process.
Not my favorite
I wanted to try a new color toning after using the kristen ess one forever (too little product for the price). It smells like fish when you first put it on but the smell goes away after a rinse out. The dark brown color is gorgeous. However, color probably lasts about a week and it dries out my hair terribly

I have blonde highlights in my hair and this purple treatment made the blonde pop. I could tell a difference the first time I used it. I personally would never spend full price on it but if you can find it on sale it's worth a try.
