Q
Does this help clear sebaceous filaments?
Asked by n/a
Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand Engage
Salicylic Acid 2% Solution targets textural irregularities while removing dead skin cells that can clog pores. And because it promotes exfoliation, this solution helps visibly reduce congestion, giving way to brighter, clearer skin. We hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you

Q
I have glycolic acid and lactic acid from ordinary, I'm also planning to get this salicylic acid, but I am not sure if they can be used together or separately. How should I use this?
Asked by Shida
Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand Engage
Hi there! If you wish to incorporate all three direct acids into your regimen, we do not recommend using them simultaneously. Instead, we suggest alternating between them or choosing one to use consistently while using the others occasionally or as needed. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is it okay to use this serum with other skin care products from different brands? For example, fenty skin?
Asked by me 💕
Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand Engage
Hi there! Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to comment on the pairing of our products with those of other brands and/or prescription medications. We recommend consulting with your doctor/dermatologist, gradually incorporating one new product into your regimen at a time, and applying test patches first to see what works best for your skin. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can this be mixed in with a lotion? (As long as the lotion doesn't contain items they react with SA) I understand the intention is to apply this solo - Ideally layered under lotion rather than mixed in it but was hoping to combine it with lotion to cut down on time.
Asked by Sam
Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand Engage
Hi! We would recommend applying Salicylic Acid 2% Solution in a separate layer for best results. Was this answer helpful to you

Helping treat my hormonal acne

Sharing my skincare journey because I was desperate for help when I was trying to figure out my skincare routine. I am 26 years old, fair skin, I have never had major skin issues (acne, oiliness, dryness, etc). I used to not wash my face at all, I would only use makeup remover to take off my eye m...

Used to be a favorite

I was dependent on this product to keep acne and sebaceous filaments away for a long time. Then the formula changed and without it actually going near my eyes, I had a massive allergic reaction. It sensitized my skin so badly that now other products that I was able to use before make my eye swell up...

I love this brand! I went to Ulta to buy this product on 3/29/25 and I used it at night time. Around Sunday evening, I noticed my eyes were getting puffy. By Monday morning my eyes were swollen, watery, and itchy. Like many others, I experienced an allergic reaction. I will not buy again. I should've listened to the other comments. I really wanted to like this product!

After those 3 days i continued to use it for 2 more days to make sure it was all good . I wish i had taken photos of my progress but i highly recommend this product

I started using it in January and it has worked well for me so far. I did start slowly incorporating it with my daily face routine. It does make my face a little dry at times but I just make sure to keep it moisturized. I will continue to use it.

Allergic Reaction

I've used this product for a couple years now and absolutely loved it. Looks like they reformulated because I randomly got a rash all over my face, neck, and eye area. After numerous doctor appointments and different steroid creams, I decided to stop using my ordinary product (I didnt know it was reformulated so I didn't even suspect it, I also have eczema so I assumed it was that). My rash cleared up immensely after just 1 day of not using this product and after just 3 days the rash is now gone. Sad, because the price is reasonable and it worked great before this. Wish reformulations were made more apparent for customers.
